The GUHRING 9055240055600 is a cobalt stub-length (screw machine length) drill bit designed for fast, accurate hole-making in production and maintenance environments. Built to DIN 1897 standards from M35 cobalt steel, it carries a 7/32 inch (0.2188 inch) diameter with a 118-degree four-facet split point and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration. The split point geometry promotes self-centering and reduces thrust, while the bright/uncoated finish suits applications where coating is not required. Right-hand spiral flutes evacuate chips cleanly, and the straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and quick-change holders. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians reach for this bit when stub-length rigidity is needed to minimize deflection in short-hole drilling operations.
This bit is suited for drilling aluminum as its primary workpiece material, consistent with the M35 cobalt grade and uncoated finish combination. The stub (3xD) flute-to-diameter ratio keeps the tool stiff in close-clearance fixturing, CNC turret setups, and hand-drill applications where a jobber-length bit would flex or chatter. Maximum drilling depth is 0.774 inch (19.66 mm), making it well matched to sheet stock, plate, and shallow-bore work. The DIN 1897 specification ensures dimensional interchangeability with other DIN-compliant tooling and holders commonly found in production shops.
Designed as a DIN 1897 stub-length drill bit with a straight-cylindrical shank; fits standard drill chucks and quick-change holders sized for a 5.56 mm shank diameter. Primary workpiece material listed by manufacturer is aluminum.
Install in a properly sized drill chuck or collet and verify shank seating before operation. Secure the workpiece firmly to prevent movement during drilling. Apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve hole finish. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or dulling is observed.
