The GUHRING 9055240036000 is a cobalt stub-length (screw machine length) drill bit designed for high-speed drilling in production and machining environments. Built to DIN 1897 standards, it measures 3.60 mm (0.1417 inches) in diameter with a 118-degree four-facet split point and web-thinned geometry for fast, accurate penetration with minimal thrust. The M35 cobalt construction handles elevated cutting temperatures and resists wear, making it a reliable choice for repetitive drilling cycles. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the typical end users for this series.
The Series 5524 stub drill is well suited for close-tolerance work in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine setups where rigidity matters and standard jobber-length bits introduce unwanted deflection. Its primary workpiece material rating is aluminum, though the cobalt M35 grade also handles mild steels, copper alloys, and similar non-ferrous materials at appropriate feeds and speeds. The short flute length and overall compact profile reduce chatter during high-cycle applications. It is sold individually and arrives bright and uncoated, ready to run.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or production consumable for any drilling setup requiring a 3.60 mm straight-shank stub drill conforming to DIN 1897; compatible with standard drill chucks and collets accepting a 3.60 mm shank diameter.
Install and remove drill bits only with the machine powered off and spindle fully stopped. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a compatible drill chuck or collet to the manufacturer-recommended clamping depth before operation. Inspect the cutting edges and web area for wear or chipping before each use, and replace the bit when dimensional accuracy or surface finish degrades. Disposal of worn cobalt tooling should follow applicable shop waste and metal-recycling guidelines.
