The GUHRING 9055240022600 is a stub-length cobalt drill bit designed for high-productivity drilling in metal fabrication, machining, and production environments. Built to DIN 1897 standards, this Series 5524 bit features a 0.089 inch (Wire Size 43) diameter with a 118-degree four-facet split point for fast, accurate starts without walking. The M35 cobalt construction provides heat resistance for drilling harder alloys. Web-thinning reduces thrust requirements and improves chip evacuation. At 40.00 mm overall length with a 2.26 mm straight-cylindrical shank, this compact stub-length geometry delivers stiffness and reduced deflection in short-reach applications.
This drill bit is suited for use in screw machine operations, CNC drilling programs, and bench drill press work where short flute length and rigidity are priorities. Its right-hand spiral flute with tapered web configuration makes it well-matched for aluminum and similar non-ferrous materials, as specified by the manufacturer. The bright uncoated finish is appropriate for applications where lubrication or cutting fluid is applied at the point of cut. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die tradespeople are the typical users of this geometry.
Designed as an OEM-style production drill bit for use in straight-shank drill chucks on screw machines, bench drill presses, and CNC machining centers requiring a Wire Size 43 (0.089 inch) stub-length bit. Primary workpiece material specified by the manufacturer is aluminum.
Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in a properly sized drill chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed before spindle engagement. Apply appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling aluminum or similar materials to extend tool life and improve hole finish. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 0.378 inches (9.61 mm) per the manufacturer flute-length geometry. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace when cutting performance degrades.
