The GUHRING 9055230079400 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit designed for reliable performance in demanding metal drilling applications. Built to DIN 338 standards with an M35 cobalt material grade, this bit handles aluminum, steel, and other common workpiece materials. It features a 118-degree four-facet split point for accurate self-starting entry and reduced thrust, paired with a web-thinned, tapered web configuration for improved chip evacuation. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 5/16 inches in diameter and seats securely in standard drill chucks. With an overall length of 117 millimeters and a flute length of 75 millimeters, it suits most benchtop and handheld drill setups. Machinists, pipefitters, HVAC technicians, and maintenance trades keep this bit in regular rotation.
This bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in light metals, mild steels, and similar materials where cobalt alloy tooling is preferred over standard high-speed steel. The Series 5523 regular spiral flute geometry and right-hand cut make it compatible with conventional corded and cordless drilling equipment. A maximum drilling depth of 2.484 inches makes it appropriate for through-holes and moderately deep blind holes in typical trade and light manufacturing applications. It ships individually, making it easy to stock as a replacement for worn or broken tooling.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement jobber length drill bit suitable for use in standard 3/8-inch or 1/2-inch keyed or keyless drill chucks that accept a straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material codes K, M, N, and P are listed, covering aluminum, steel, and related materials per the supplier specification.
Secure the shank fully into the drill chuck and tighten firmly before operation. Ensure the drill press or handheld tool is powered off and unplugged before bit changes. Apply appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling ferrous materials to extend tool life and maintain dimensional tolerance. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or rounding is observed at the tip.
