The GUHRING 9055200087300 is a cobalt stub-length (screw machine length) drill bit designed for high-productivity drilling in metal fabrication and machining environments. Built to DIN 1897 standards, this Series 5520 bit measures 11/32 inch (0.3438 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 84.00 mm and a flute length of 40.00 mm. The 118-degree four-facet split point geometry reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration improves chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup at the cutting edge. Cobalt construction provides elevated heat resistance and wear life compared to standard high-speed steel. This bit is suited for machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and maintenance technicians who drill aluminum and other workpiece materials repeatedly under production conditions.
This drill bit is used in screw machine operations, CNC drilling, and bench drill press applications where a shorter flute length improves rigidity and reduces deflection. Its stub-length design makes it well suited for drilling in tight clearances or fixtures where a jobber-length bit would flex or chatter. The right-hand spiral flute configuration follows standard drill press and machining center spindle rotation. Maximum drilling depth is 1.0590 inches (26.91 mm), aligning with the 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio of the Series 5520 geometry. The straight-cylindrical shank with an 8.73 mm shank diameter seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders without requiring special tooling.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement stub-length drill bit conforming to DIN 1897 specifications, compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting an 8.73 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material is aluminum; the cobalt construction also supports use in other non-ferrous and ferrous materials at the discretion of the operator.
Installation of this drill bit should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician following the equipment manufacturer's chuck or collet tightening procedures. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet to the recommended grip depth before initiating spindle rotation. Inspect the cutting edges and point geometry for damage before each use and replace the bit if chipping or dulling is observed. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine guarding requirements when operating drill presses or machining centers.
