The GUHRING 9055200083300 is a cobalt stub-length (screw machine length) drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding shop and field applications. Built to DIN 1897 standards, this Series 5520 bit measures 0.3281 inches (21/64) in diameter with an overall length of approximately 3.11 inches (79 mm) and a flute length of approximately 1.46 inches (37 mm). The four-facet split point geometry and web-thinned, tapered web construction reduce entry force and improve centering without a pilot hole. The two-flute right-hand spiral design clears chips efficiently, and the cobalt tool material provides heat resistance for cutting harder workpiece materials. Weighing 0.06 pounds, it fits standard drill chucks via its straight-cylindrical shank.
This bit is suited for drilling aluminum and similar non-ferrous or light ferrous materials in production and maintenance environments. The stub-length body offers increased rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, making it a practical choice for drill press work, CNC machining, and hand-drill applications where deflection and chatter must be minimized. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and maximum drilling depth of 0.965 inches (24.51 mm) make it well matched to shallow-to-medium depth hole work. Machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and maintenance mechanics will find it useful across a range of general metalworking tasks.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use drill bit for applications requiring a 21/64-inch (0.3281-inch) stub-length cobalt drill conforming to DIN 1897. Compatible with any standard drill chuck or collet sized for an 8.33 mm (approximately 0.328-inch) straight shank.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a standard drill press, CNC spindle, or hand drill with an appropriate chuck or collet. Ensure the drill chuck is fully tightened and the workpiece is securely clamped before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to extend tool life, even though this bit does not have through-coolant capability. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if the point geometry is compromised.
