The GUHRING 9055200014000 is a cobalt stub-length (screw machine length) drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding shop and production environments. Built to DIN 1897 standards, this Series 5520 bit measures 0.055 inches (wire size 54) in diameter with a 118-degree four-facet split point that reduces walking and improves centering on entry. The web-thinned, tapered-web construction lowers thrust requirements, making it well-suited for high-cycle production drilling. At 32 millimeters overall length with a 9-millimeter flute, the stub format provides added rigidity over jobber-length bits. Right-hand spiral flutes evacuate chips efficiently, and the cobalt composition handles elevated cutting temperatures without losing hardness.
This bit is intended for drilling aluminum and similar non-ferrous or softer ferrous materials in production and machining applications. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks, collets, and quick-change tooling systems. Typical use cases include CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held air or electric drills in fabrication and assembly settings where a rigid, short-flute bit is preferred. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and stub length make it especially effective where depth is limited or where chatter control is a priority. This bit is sold individually; minimum order quantity is 10 units.
Designed as a DIN 1897 Series 5520 stub-length drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank chucks and collets accepting a 1.40-millimeter shank diameter, suitable for drilling aluminum and other materials within the 0.0000 to 0.1000 inch diameter size range.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tool and die technicians familiar with drill press, CNC, or hand-drill operations. Ensure the spindle or chuck is fully de-energized and at a complete stop before changing or seating the bit. Confirm the shank is fully seated and the chuck or collet is properly torqued to prevent slippage. Cutting speeds and feeds should be selected based on workpiece material, machine capability, and shop practices; refer to the manufacturer or applicable machining standards for guidance.
