The GUHRING 9055190055000 is a cobalt (M35 grade) jobber-length drill bit with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, designed for precision metal drilling in demanding trade and industrial applications. Built to DIN 338 standards, it measures 5.5 mm in diameter with an overall length of 93 mm and a flute length of 57 mm. The four-facet split point at 118 degrees reduces walking on entry and improves chip evacuation. The straight-cylindrical shank at 5.5 mm diameter fits standard drill chucks. This bit is installed by machinists, maintenance technicians, pipefitters, and fabricators who require consistent hole geometry in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This drill bit is suited for drilling aluminum, steel, stainless, and other materials classified under workpiece material codes K, M, N, and P. Typical applications include fabrication shops, mechanical contractors, and maintenance operations where accurate hole sizing in the 5.5 mm range is required. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports drilling depths up to 48.75 mm (1.919 inches), making it appropriate for through-hole and moderate-depth blind-hole work in structural components, pipe flanges, brackets, and similar parts. The regular spiral and tapered web configuration promote steady chip clearance throughout the cut.
Designed as a DIN 338 jobber-length replacement drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks accepting 5.5 mm shank tooling, suitable for drilling aluminum, carbon steel, alloy steel, and other K, M, N, and P category workpiece materials.
Install and remove drill bits only with the drill press or driver fully powered off and the chuck key removed from the chuck. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling to prevent rotation or movement during the cut. This bit is intended for use by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with proper feed rates and cutting speeds for cobalt tooling on the target material. Inspect the cutting edges and TiN coating for wear before each use; a worn or chipped edge on a coated bit should be replaced rather than resharpened to maintain coating integrity.
