The GUHRING 9055190052200 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, designed for demanding metal drilling applications. Built to DIN 338 standards, this bit is manufactured from M35 cobalt high-speed steel, which provides increased heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS. It features a 118-degree four-facet split point for accurate self-starting and reduced walking on entry. The two-flute spiral design with a tapered web and web-thinned tip promotes efficient chip evacuation. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and electrical trades as well as machining professionals use cobalt-grade bits when cutting harder ferrous metals and heat-resistant alloys.
This drill bit is suited for use in general-purpose and production drilling in materials including aluminum, cast iron, low-to-medium carbon steel, and stainless alloys. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard three-jaw drill chucks in both handheld and bench-press configurations. With a maximum drilling depth of 44.17 mm (approximately 1.74 inches) and a flute length of 52 mm, it handles typical jobber-depth through-holes in structural and sheet stock. The regular spiral and 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio balance rigidity with chip clearance across a range of feed rates and spindle speeds.
Designed as a DIN 338-compliant jobber length drill bit in wire size 5 (0.2055 inches), compatible with any standard straight-shank three-jaw drill chuck accepting a 5.22 mm shank diameter. Suitable for use with benchtop drill presses, CNC drilling centers, and handheld power drills. Primary workpiece material codes K, M, N, and P are supported per manufacturer specification.
Install in a properly sized drill chuck and tighten securely before operation. Ensure the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent movement during drilling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling steel or stainless alloys to manage heat buildup and extend bit life. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use and replace the bit if chipping or dulling is visible.
