The GUHRING 9055190049800 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in a wide range of workpiece materials. Built to DIN 338 standards, it carries a titanium nitride (TiN) coating over an M35 cobalt steel body, providing increased surface hardness and heat resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. The bit measures 0.1960 inch (No. 9 wire size) in diameter with an overall length of 86 mm and a flute length of 52 mm. The four-facet split-point geometry reduces walking at entry and lowers the thrust force required to start a hole without a center punch. A tapered web with web-thinning keeps the core thin from tip to shank, supporting chip evacuation through the regular spiral flutes.
This drill bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in aluminum, steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals, corresponding to material codes K, M, N, and P. It fits standard drill chucks via its straight-cylindrical shank with a 4.98 mm shank diameter and 34 mm shank length. Typical users include machinists, toolroom technicians, and maintenance mechanics working with drill presses, CNC machining centers, or hand-held electric drills. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports drilling to a maximum depth of 44.53 mm (1.753 inch) per pass without parabolic tooling. Series 5519 from Guhring targets general-purpose jobber applications where dimensional consistency and coating durability matter.
Designed as a DIN 338 jobber-length replacement drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks accepting a straight-cylindrical shank of approximately 4.98 mm diameter, suitable for drill presses, hand drills, and CNC spindles configured for jobber-length tooling.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a keyed or keyless chuck rated for the shank diameter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and power is isolated before loading or removing the bit. Secure the shank with adequate chuck clamping force to prevent slippage under cutting load. Follow applicable shop safety practices and machine manufacturer guidelines for speed and feed selection based on workpiece material.
