The GUHRING 9055180100000 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance hole-making in cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. Built to Series 5518 standards, it features a 10 mm diameter, a 130-degree proprietary point angle, and a three-flute regular spiral geometry that promotes efficient chip evacuation and improved hole finish. The web-thinned tip reduces entry thrust and supports the self-centering behavior this series is known for. With an overall length of 103 mm (4.055 inches) and a flute length of 61 mm (2.402 inches), this drill is suited for short-to-medium depth applications requiring consistent dimensional accuracy. It is a standard tool for machinists and toolroom technicians working on precision components.
This drill is applied in machining environments where close-tolerance holes are required in cast iron and non-ferrous workpieces such as aluminum, brass, and similar materials. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet systems without modification. With a maximum drilling depth of 46 mm (1.811 inches) and a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio, it is well suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes in production or job-shop settings. The bright uncoated finish makes it straightforward to inspect for wear. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional spindle rotation.
Designed as a DIN-specification jobber drill for use in standard 10 mm chuck or collet toolholding systems on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and lathes. Primary workpiece material compatibility is cast iron and aluminum plus other non-ferrous materials per material codes K and N.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the drill from the chuck or collet. Confirm the shank is fully seated and the chuck or collet nut is tightened to the toolholder specification before beginning a cut. Do not exceed the maximum recommended drilling depth of 46 mm without retracting to clear chips.
