The GUHRING 9055180055000 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance hole-making in cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. Built to Series 5518 geometry, it features a 130-degree proprietary point angle with web thinning for improved centering and reduced thrust. The 5.50 mm diameter cutting edge is held to an m7 tolerance for consistent, repeatable fit. At 82.00 mm overall length with a 44.00 mm flute length, this three-flute design delivers efficient chip evacuation in shorter-depth drilling cycles. Installed by machinists and toolroom technicians, it suits both production drilling and precision setup work.
This drill is suited for drilling cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous workpieces in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines. The straight cylindrical shank at 6.00 mm diameter mates with standard collet chucks and drill chucks. The three-flute spiral configuration supports stable cutting at higher feed rates compared to two-flute designs. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and maximum drilling depth of 35.75 mm make it appropriate for shallow-to-moderate depth holes. It is classified under DIN 6535 and DIN 6537 L standards and carries a high-performance drill grade designation from GUHRING.
Designed as a high-performance OEM-style jobber drill for use in standard collet chucks and drill chucks accepting a 6.00 mm straight cylindrical shank, suitable for CNC and manual drilling applications in the 5.00 mm to 6.00 mm drill diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in a properly sized collet or drill chuck before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to side-loading. Power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Avoid using this drill in interrupted cuts or on hardened steels, as the solid carbide substrate is not rated for those workpiece material codes.
