The GUHRING 9055150110000 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous materials. It features a 140-degree split point geometry with web thinning for self-centering entry, eliminating the need for a center punch on most applications. The cutting edges carry a FIREX coating that extends tool life in abrasive and hard materials. At 118 mm overall length with a 71 mm flute length, this is a standard jobber format suited for CNC machining centers and drill presses. It is part of the Guhring Series 5515, built to DIN 6537 L and DIN 6535 standards using a submicron carbide grade.
This drill bit is rated for cutting cast iron and steel, corresponding to ISO material codes K and P. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in moderate-depth holes up to 54.50 mm. The straight-cylindrical shank at 12 mm diameter fits standard ER collet chucks and drill chuck toolholders. Typical users include machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators working in production or job shop environments on ferrous workpieces where carbide tooling is specified over high-speed steel.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power tools accepting a 12 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron and steel as specified by the manufacturer. Coolant-through is not supported on this model.
Install and remove this bit only with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Seat the straight shank fully and evenly in the collet or chuck before tightening to manufacturer-specified clamping torque for the toolholding system in use. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or wear before each use, as carbide is brittle and a damaged edge can fracture under load. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting speeds and feeds for carbide tooling in ferrous materials.
