The GUHRING 9055150031700 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Built to DIN 6537L standards, it features a 140-degree split-point (SU) tip geometry with web thinning for self-centering entry, eliminating the need for a center punch on most setups. The bit is coated with FIREX, a multi-layer PVD coating that extends tool life when cutting ferrous and abrasive materials. At 0.125 inches in diameter and 66 mm overall length, this is a precision ground, submicron-grade carbide tool suited for production environments and tool rooms where consistent hole quality and long run life are required.
This drill bit is engineered for cutting cast iron and steel, covering ISO material groups K and P. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute design support efficient chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole applications. It is commonly used in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and high-speed production setups where a straight-cylindrical shank is standard. The Series 5515 designation identifies it as part of a coordinated line of DIN-conforming carbide drills. Machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and CNC operators working in manufacturing and fabrication environments are the primary users.
Designed as a DIN 6537L-compliant solid carbide jobber drill for use in CNC machining centers and manual drill presses with standard straight-shank toolholders accepting a 6 mm shank diameter. Suited for ISO material groups K (cast iron) and P (steel).
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators following standard machine shop safety procedures. Secure the shank fully in a collet or drill chuck rated for the intended spindle speed before operation. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 23.23 mm without retracting to clear chips. Carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed adjustments, and contact with hardened surfaces beyond the tool's rated material grade.
