The GUHRING 9055140086000 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in cast iron and steel. Built to DIN 6537 K standards, it features a 140-degree split point (SU point type) with web thinning for fast, accurate starts and reduced thrust. The 0.3386-inch diameter bit runs a right-hand cut with a regular spiral flute and a straight-cylindrical shank. At an overall length of 89 mm and a flute length of 47 mm, it fits standard screw machine depth applications. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and pipefitting tradespeople frequently specify solid carbide tooling like this when drilling through hardened ferrous materials where high-speed steel would deflect or wear prematurely.
This bit is rated for use in cast iron and steel workpieces and suits CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines where screw machine length tooling is required. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and parallel web configuration give it good chip evacuation in blind and through-hole applications. The coated finish extends tool life in abrasive ferrous materials. It does not include coolant-through capability, so external coolant or cutting fluid should be applied at the cutting zone when drilling deep holes or running at high spindle speeds.
Designed as a screw machine length carbide drill bit in the GUHRING Series 5514, sized for workpieces in the 0.3000 to 0.3500 inch drill diameter range, and compatible with any standard drill chuck or collet accepting a straight-cylindrical shank of the same diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the bit from the chuck or collet. Verify chuck or collet runout is within tolerance before use, as excess runout will shorten carbide tool life significantly. Apply cutting fluid or external coolant at the drill point when operating at extended depths, since this bit does not have coolant-through capability.
