The GUHRING 9055140069000 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding production environments. It carries a 0.2717-inch (Letter I) diameter, a 140-degree split point, and a coated finish that extends tool life under sustained cutting loads. The right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation. At 79.00 mm overall length with a 34.00 mm flute length, this stub-length format offers increased rigidity compared to jobber-length alternatives. It is intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and CNC operators who require consistent hole quality in ferrous materials.
This drill bit is rated for primary use in cast iron and steel workpieces. The screw machine length body reduces deflection during high-feed or high-spindle-speed operations, making it well suited for CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and production drilling fixtures where short-reach tooling is specified. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and web-thinned parallel web configuration support aggressive material removal without sacrificing point stability. The straight-cylindrical shank with an 8.00 mm shank diameter seats directly in standard ER collets and drill chucks without adapters.
Designed as an OEM-specification replacement or new-installation tool for production drilling applications in cast iron and steel, conforming to DIN 6537 K standards. Fits standard ER collet chucks and drill chucks accepting an 8.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Secure the shank fully in a collet or chuck to the manufacturer-recommended engagement depth before running the spindle. Carbide is brittle — avoid side loads, interrupted cuts at high feed rates, or re-chucking on a worn or contaminated bore without inspection. Confirm spindle runout is within acceptable tolerance before use, as excessive runout accelerates edge chipping on solid carbide tools.
