The GUHRING 9055140052000 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding production environments. Built to DIN 6537 K standards, it features a 0.2047-inch diameter, a 140-degree split point (SU-style), and a web-thinned, parallel web configuration that reduces entry force and improves chip evacuation. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and collets. With two regular spiral flutes and a coated finish, this bit is designed for right-hand cutting in ferrous and cast materials where precision hole tolerances are required. Skilled machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users.
This drill bit is suited for screw machine operations, CNC drilling centers, and manual drill press applications targeting cast iron and steel workpieces. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and a maximum drilling depth of 0.7950 inches (20.20 mm) make it appropriate for short, repeatable through-holes and blind-hole operations in production shops. The submicron carbide grade supports consistent performance at elevated spindle speeds where high-speed steel tooling would wear prematurely.
Designed as a DIN 6537 K screw machine length drill bit for use in cast iron and steel applications; compatible with standard straight-cylindrical shank holders, drill chucks, and collet systems accepting a 0.2047-inch shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with carbide tooling handling procedures. Carbide is brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed reduction, or dropping the bit on hard surfaces. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Verify chuck or collet runout is within acceptable limits, as excessive runout accelerates carbide wear and can cause premature fracture.
