The GUHRING 9055120119100 is a taper length solid carbide drill bit from the Series 5512 line, designed for demanding metal-cutting applications where standard-length drills fall short. Built from submicron carbide and coated with TiAlN, this bit handles high-heat, high-hardness materials without premature edge wear. It features a 140-degree split point (SU point type) with web thinning for self-centering entry and reduced thrust. The spiral flute geometry runs at a 7xD flute-to-diameter ratio, supporting chip evacuation in deep holes. Coolant-through capability makes it well-suited for CNC machining centers where through-spindle coolant is available. Manufactured to DIN 6537 standards.
This drill bit is intended for use in production machining and precision fabrication environments where tight tolerances and difficult workpiece materials are routine. Material applications include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, brass, nickel alloys, and titanium alloy. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders. It is well suited for aerospace, oil and gas, and heavy industrial shops running multi-axis CNC equipment or manual knee mills where a longer flute length is needed to reach depth without tool changes.
Designed for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet systems. Compatible with material applications including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, brass, nickel alloys, and titanium alloy as stated by the manufacturer.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Ensure spindle runout is within acceptable limits before use, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to lateral loading. Confirm through-spindle coolant pressure and flow are properly set before engaging the cut. Do not use carbide drills in handheld drilling applications or on machines with excessive vibration or backlash.
