The GUHRING 9055110071400 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It carries a Letter K designation, equating to 0.2812 inches (9/32 inch) in diameter, and features a 140-degree self-centering point for accurate entry without center punching. The FIREX coating provides heat resistance and extended tool life when cutting ferrous metals. With an overall length of 3.5827 inches and a flute length of 2.0866 inches, this bit fits standard straight-cylindrical shank toolholders. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical tradespeople who drill cast iron or steel components will find this bit suited to precision, high-cycle work.
This drill bit is intended for use on cast iron and steel workpieces, corresponding to material codes K and P. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and coolant-through design make it effective in CNC machining centers and production drilling setups where through-tool coolant delivery is available. It conforms to DIN 6537L geometry and DIN 6535 shank standards, making it a direct fit for toolholding systems built to those specifications. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust force at the point and aids chip evacuation in deeper holes up to a maximum drilling depth of 1.6650 inches.
Designed for use with straight-cylindrical shank toolholders conforming to DIN 6535. Rated for primary workpiece materials cast iron and steel (material codes K and P). Series 5511, drill bit size range 0.2500 to 0.3000 inches decimal.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a collet or drill chuck rated for the shank diameter of 0.3150 inches before operation. When using coolant-through capability, confirm the machine spindle and toolholder support through-tool coolant before engaging the coolant supply. Carbide is brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts beyond the tool's rated capacity, or dropping the bit on hard surfaces.
