The GUHRING 9055100072000 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding production environments. It carries a 0.2835 inch (7.20 mm) diameter and a 140-degree split point (SU type) that reduces walking and cutting thrust on entry. The web-thinned, parallel web geometry paired with two spiral flutes promotes efficient chip evacuation. Coolant-through capability keeps the cutting edge cool during deep-hole passes, extending tool life in continuous-duty applications. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators install this bit in screw machine and machining center applications where tight diameter tolerances and consistent hole quality are required.
This drill bit is suited for right-hand cutting in cast iron and steel workpieces. The screw machine length body provides a compact, rigid profile that resists deflection in short-reach setups. With a straight-cylindrical shank of 8.00 mm (0.315 inches), it seats directly in standard ER collets, drill chucks, and hydraulic toolholders. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 41.00 mm flute length support drilling depths up to 38.00 mm (1.496 inches) per pass. Series 5510 is manufactured to DIN 6537K standards, making it a direct fit for metric-tolerance production work.
Designed for use in cast iron and steel workpieces as stated in the product specification. Fits standard straight-bore collet chucks, ER collet systems, and drill chucks accepting an 8.00 mm (0.315 inch) straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine in a full stop, lockout state per shop safety procedures. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully into the toolholder and torque the collet nut to the toolholder manufacturer specification before engaging the spindle. Verify coolant-through passages are clear and system pressure is set before drilling to prevent thermal damage to the carbide substrate. Carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side loading or prying the bit during extraction.
