The GUHRING 9044075158750 is a spiral flute tap designed for blind hole threading in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Part of the Series 4407 lineup, it cuts a 5/8-11 UNC right-hand thread with a modified bottoming chamfer, making it well-suited for applications where thread depth must be maximized in a blind hole. The tool is manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with an oxide coating to reduce friction and extend tool life. At 3.811 inches overall length with a 0.944-inch thread length and a 40-degree helix angle, it is engineered for reliable chip evacuation in demanding tapping operations. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals rely on this geometry for consistent thread quality in production and maintenance environments.
This tap is intended for blind hole threading applications across a broad spectrum of materials including alloy steel, tool steel, stainless steel, cast iron, ductile iron, malleable cast iron, structural steel, free cutting steel, heat treated steel, case hardened steel, aluminum alloy, and alloy tool steel. It carries a 2B and 3B class of fit with an H5 thread limit, making it appropriate for standard commercial and precision threading requirements. It is commonly used in machine shops, manufacturing facilities, and maintenance operations where repeatable thread quality in difficult materials is required.
Designed for 5/8-11 UNC blind hole threading applications in alloy steel, alloy tool steel, aluminum alloy, case hardened steel, cast iron, ductile iron, free cutting steel, heat treated steel, malleable cast iron, stainless steel, structural steel, and tool steel. Not rated for coolant-through use.
This tap is installed and operated by machinists using a tap wrench, tapping head, or CNC machine spindle with appropriate tapping attachment. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the tap is aligned perpendicular to the hole before engagement. Use a cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to reduce heat and extend tool life. Follow shop-specific speeds and feeds for the material being tapped and replace worn taps before they cause thread damage or breakage.
