The GUHRING 9044073035050 is a spiral flute tap designed for blind hole threading in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It carries a 6-32 UNC thread form with a modified bottoming chamfer, making it well suited for threading close to the bottom of blind holes where a standard chamfer would leave insufficient thread engagement. The 40-degree helix angle drives chips up and out of the hole efficiently, reducing the risk of chip packing in interrupted cuts. Built from cobalt high-speed steel with an oxide finish, this tap handles the thermal demands of production tapping in harder materials. Qualified to H3 thread limit with a 2B and 3B class of fit.
This tap is appropriate for use in machining, maintenance, repair, and fabrication environments where 6-32 UNC threads must be cut in blind hole applications. Compatible material applications include alloy steel, alloy tool steel, aluminum alloy, case hardened steel, cast iron, ductile iron, free cutting steel, heat treated steel, malleable cast iron, stainless steel, structural steel, and tool steel. The fast flute style and right-hand spiral make it a practical choice for use in CNC tapping heads, vertical machining centers, and hand-tapping operations where chip evacuation is a priority.
Designed as a replacement or production tap for 6-32 UNC blind hole threading operations across alloy steel, tool steel, cast iron, stainless steel, aluminum alloy, and related materials as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by machinists and maintenance technicians using a tapping head, tap wrench, or CNC spindle with rigid or floating tap holder. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the tap is correctly aligned to the pilot hole before engagement. Use an appropriate cutting fluid or tapping compound matched to the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain thread quality. Never reverse a spiral flute tap aggressively under load; follow the recommended feed rate for the material and machine setup.
