The GUHRING 9043900048260 is a spiral point tap designed for right-hand, through-hole threading in a 10-24 UNC thread form. Built from high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The plug chamfer geometry allows progressive thread engagement at thread start, reducing cutting force on entry. With 3 flutes and an H3/H4 thread limit, the tap holds a 2B class of fit, meeting standard tolerance requirements for commercial threaded fastener applications. Overall length is 4 inches with a 0.194-inch shank diameter. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and electrical tradespeople as well as machinists working in maintenance and production environments rely on this size for machine screws and panel fasteners.
The 9043900048260 is suited for through-hole threading operations in aluminum, steel, stainless steel, gray cast iron, malleable iron, spheroidal iron, and non-ferrous metals. The spiral point geometry pushes chips forward ahead of the tap, making it most effective in through-holes rather than blind bores. It fits standard machine tap holders and tapping heads used in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held tapping machines. The 2-inch neck length provides clearance in deeper through-hole applications.
Designed for through-hole threading in aluminum, gray cast iron, malleable iron, non-ferrous metals, spheroidal iron, stainless steel, and steel. Part of GUHRING Series 4390.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using standard tap holders, tapping heads, or CNC rigid tapping cycles. Secure the workpiece fully before tapping to prevent movement under cutting load. Use appropriate cutting fluid or tapping compound for the workpiece material to reduce heat and extend tap life. Inspect the tap for chipping or wear before each use and replace at first sign of damage to avoid thread damage in the workpiece.
