The GUHRING 9042850190500 is a spiral point tap designed for through-hole threading applications in metalworking and machining environments. It cuts a 3/4-10 UNC right-hand thread to a 2B class of fit with H5/H6 thread limits, making it suitable for close-tolerance work. The tap is manufactured from high speed steel and carries a TiN (titanium nitride) coating that improves surface hardness and wear resistance for extended tool life. With 4 flutes and a plug chamfer, it is configured to push chips forward through the hole during cutting. Licensed machinists, tooling specialists, and machine shop technicians are the primary users of this tap.
This tap is intended for through-hole threading in both manual and CNC tapping operations. The plug chamfer style requires a few threads of lead-in, making it appropriate for through-holes where the tap can fully advance past the workpiece. It is rated for use in a broad range of workpiece materials including aluminum, gray cast iron, malleable iron, spheroidal iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and steel. The 6-inch overall length provides clearance for deep-reach setups or use with standard tap holders and extensions. It is part of the GUHRING Series 4285 product line.
Designed for through-hole threading operations in aluminum, gray cast iron, malleable iron, non-ferrous metals, spheroidal iron, stainless steel, and steel workpieces. Part of GUHRING Series 4285.
This tap is installed and operated by machinists using standard tap holders, tapping chucks, or CNC rigid tapping spindles. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the pilot hole diameter is correctly sized for a 3/4-10 UNC tap before threading begins. Cutting fluid or tapping compound appropriate for the workpiece material should be applied to reduce heat and extend tool life. Follow applicable machine shop safety practices and equipment manufacturer guidelines when setting spindle speeds and feeds.
