The GUHRING 9042570063500 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision metal removal in demanding machining applications. Built to Series 4257 specifications, it features a variable helix spiral flute geometry and a nano-A coating that reduces friction and extends tool life in abrasive materials. The 0.25 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 0.5 inch length of cut and a 2 inch overall length, making it a compact stub-length tool suited for rigid setups where deflection control matters. Licensed machinists and toolroom operators working on CNC mills and machining centers are the primary users of this end mill.
This end mill is engineered primarily for stainless steel and steel, with secondary capability in cast iron. The stub-length profile, straight-cylindrical shank, and right-hand cut with right-hand flute orientation make it a standard fit for conventional vertical and horizontal milling operations in job shop, production machining, and toolroom environments. Its centercutting capability allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled pilot hole, adding flexibility to slotting and pocketing operations.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide end mill for use in standard straight-bore tool holders accepting a 0.25 inch straight-cylindrical shank, including collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle locked before loading or removing the end mill. Use a calibrated torque wrench and the holder manufacturer's specified torque when tightening collet nuts — do not over-tighten, as this can distort the shank and affect runout. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before cutting, particularly in tight-tolerance or finish-machining applications.
