The GUHRING 9042530254000 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for demanding metal-removal applications in ferrous and hard materials. Built on Guhring's Series 4253 platform, it features a 1 inch cutting diameter, a 4 inch length of cut, and a 7 inch overall length, placing it in the extra-long category for deep-reach milling. The FIREX coating provides heat resistance and wear protection across extended tool life. A variable helix geometry — with a minimum angle of 35 degrees and maximum of 38 degrees — reduces harmonic chatter during heavy passes. This tool is centercutting, allowing plunge entry, and runs right-hand cut with right-hand spiral flutes.
This end mill is suited for milling cast iron and steel as its primary workpiece materials, with secondary capability in hard materials, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. The extra-long configuration and 4 inch length of cut make it appropriate for deep-cavity profiling, slotting, and side-milling operations on vertical machining centers and CNC mills. The Weldon flat shank provides positive drive engagement in standard Weldon-style holders, reducing pullout risk under heavy radial loads. It is a single-end tool intended for toolroom, production, and maintenance machining environments.
Designed for use in standard 1 inch Weldon-style end mill holders on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron and steel (ISO material codes K and P); secondary materials include hard materials, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys (ISO codes H, M, and S).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the Weldon flat shank in a matched 1 inch Weldon holder and torque the set screw against the flat per the holder manufacturer's specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut, as carbide tools are sensitive to excessive runout-induced loading. Do not use in handheld or non-rigid setups.
