The GUHRING 9042520095200 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in ferrous and hard materials. Built on Guhring Series 4252, it features a variable helix geometry with helix angles of 35 and 38 degrees, which reduces chatter and improves chip evacuation in demanding cuts. The FIREX coating provides enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability, extending tool life in abrasive workpiece materials. With a 3/8-inch cutting diameter, 2-1/4-inch length of cut, and 4-inch overall length, this is classified as an extra-long reach tool. It is centercutting and carries a right-hand cut, right-hand spiral flute configuration with four flutes. Machinists and CNC programmers in production shops and job shops are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for milling cast iron and steel as its primary workpiece materials, with secondary capability in hard materials, stainless steel, and other difficult-to-machine alloys. The extra-long length of cut makes it appropriate for deep cavity milling, side milling, and slot milling operations where standard-length tools cannot reach. It is used on vertical machining centers, horizontal mills, and CNC knee mills. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling systems sized for 3/8-inch shanks.
Compatible with primary workpiece materials cast iron and steel, and secondary workpiece materials hard material, stainless steel, and high-temp alloys. Fits any 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical toolholder including ER collets and shrink-fit systems. Part of Guhring Series 4252.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine in a full stop, lockout state per shop safety procedures. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully into the toolholder to the minimum engagement depth specified by the holder manufacturer before tightening. Verify runout with a dial indicator before starting a cut, as runout beyond acceptable limits accelerates carbide wear and edge chipping. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for collet nuts and set screws — do not use impact tools on precision toolholders.
