The GUHRING 9042500111100 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. This single-end tool features a 0.4375 inch (7/16 inch) cutting diameter, a 2 inch length of cut, and a 4.5 inch overall length. It carries a FIREX coating, a multi-layer physical vapor deposition finish that extends tool life when cutting ferrous materials. The variable helix geometry reduces vibration and chatter during cuts. With four flutes and a right-hand spiral configuration, it is suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes where surface quality and tool stability matter. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production facilities are the primary users.
This end mill is built for milling cast iron and steel as primary workpiece materials, with secondary capability in hard materials, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. The long-series length type provides extended reach for deep pocket milling, slotting, and profiling operations where a standard-length tool cannot access the feature. The straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits standard ER collet chucks and side-lock holders. The FIREX coating and variable helix make it particularly effective on materials that generate high cutting temperatures or cause built-up edge on uncoated tools.

Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in an e-stop or tool-change state. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended gauge length before torquing the retention nut to the holder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or damage before each use — do not run a damaged carbide tool. Verify spindle speed and feed rate parameters in the CAM program or operator sheet match the tool diameter and workpiece material before initiating the cut.
