The GUHRING 9041150166700 is a carbide replaceable tip drill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining applications. Part of the Series 4115 platform, this drill features a solid carbide tip with a 140-degree included angle and a nano-A PVD coating applied through a physical vapor deposition process. The 21/32-inch diameter tip seats into a relieved cone insert geometry at insert seat size 165, delivering repeatable positioning and edge security. The nano-A finish reduces friction and extends tool life in difficult-to-machine materials. This drill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and other rigid machine tool setups where replaceable tip systems offer cycle-time and cost advantages over solid-shank alternatives.
This drill is rated for primary use in stainless steel, classified under workpiece material code M. Secondary compatible materials include superalloys and titanium, corresponding to material codes H, P, and S. The Series 4115 replaceable tip format is commonly found in production machining environments handling aerospace, medical, and industrial components where material toughness and work-hardening are key concerns. It does not include through-coolant capability, so external flood or mist coolant delivery is typical for these applications.
Designed for use with GUHRING Series 4115 replaceable tip drill bodies accepting insert seat size 165. Primary workpiece material is stainless steel; secondary materials include superalloys and titanium.
Replaceable carbide tip drills of this type are installed and serviced by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. The machine spindle must be stopped and locked out before tip removal or installation. Use the manufacturer-specified torque key or wrench to seat the tip; hand pressure or improvised tools risk tip misalignment and premature failure. Confirm insert seat cleanliness and inspect the seat for damage or chips before installing a new tip.
