The GUHRING 9041120134900 is a Series 4112 replaceable tip drill designed for high-productivity metal cutting in demanding shop and industrial environments. The drill body accepts a solid carbide tip with a 2-facet insert geometry and a 140-degree included point angle, which reduces entry force and improves centering on steel and stainless steel workpieces. The tip is coated with a Nano-FIREX finish applied via a PVD process, providing enhanced heat resistance and extended tool life compared to uncoated carbide. The replaceable tip design allows the shank body to be reused across multiple tip changes, reducing tooling cost per hole. This drill is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC machining centers and manual drill press applications.
This drill is rated for use in steel (ISO material code P) as its primary workpiece material, with secondary compatibility in stainless steel (ISO codes K and M). The Series 4112 platform is suited for through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations where consistent diameter and surface finish are required. The 17/32 inch diameter and 8.50 mm functional length at the tip make it appropriate for moderate-depth hole applications. Coolant-through capability is not supported in this configuration, so external coolant or flood coolant strategies should be used when cutting heat-sensitive alloys.
Designed as a Series 4112 replaceable tip drill for use with compatible GUHRING Series 4112 drill bodies accepting an insert seat size 130 tip. Consult the GUHRING Series 4112 body catalog to confirm shank size and body length compatibility before ordering tips.
Installation and tip changes should be performed by qualified machinists following the tool manufacturer's torque and seating guidelines for replaceable tip systems. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is removed from the spindle before changing the carbide tip insert. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating a new tip, as contamination will affect runout and drill life. Follow applicable OSHA and shop-floor safety standards for rotating cutting tools during setup and operation.
