The GUHRING 9039840127000 is a spiral flute tap designed for blind hole threading in alloy steel and unalloyed steel. Part of the Series 3984 line, it features a 40-degree helix angle and a fast flute style that efficiently evacuates chips upward through the flute, reducing clogging in blind hole applications. The tap is manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating to extend tool life in abrasive materials. With an H11 thread limit and a 0.0050-inch oversize specification, it is sized to produce threads within tight tolerance requirements for 1/2-13 UNC fastener applications. Installation is performed by licensed machinists and tooling professionals.
This tap is intended for right-hand, blind hole threading operations on workpieces made from alloy steel and unalloyed steel. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading closer to the bottom of a blind hole compared to standard plug or taper chamfer taps. The 40-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip flow in interrupted cuts and short-chipping materials. It is suited for use in CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and manual tapping setups where consistent thread quality and tool longevity are required.
Designed for blind hole threading in alloy steel and unalloyed steel workpieces requiring 1/2-13 UNC right-hand threads. Suitable for use with standard 1/2-inch tap holders and floating tap adapters compatible with Series 3984 shank geometry.
This tap is installed and operated by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Always secure the workpiece and ensure the tap holder is properly aligned before beginning a threading cycle. Power down or de-energize the machine spindle before changing or inspecting the tap. Do not use this tap without appropriate cutting fluid or tapping compound, as dry threading will accelerate wear and may cause tap breakage in steel materials.
