The GUHRING 9039690060000 is a spiral flute tap designed for threading blind holes in metric M6 x 1.00 applications. Built from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a MolyGlide coating, it delivers improved chip evacuation and heat resistance compared to standard HSS taps. The 2-flute, fast-flute-style design with a 45-degree helix angle drives chips up and out of the hole, making it well suited for interrupted or deep blind-hole threading where chip packing is a common failure point. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading closer to the bottom of a blind hole than a standard taper or plug tap. This tool is intended for installation by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals working with precision thread requirements.
This tap is rated for aluminum and aluminum alloy workpiece materials, where the MolyGlide finish reduces built-up edge and galling that are common problems when threading soft, sticky metals. It is appropriate for CNC machining centers, manual mills, and drill press tapping operations where a 6H class-of-fit thread tolerance is specified. The overall length of 2.5 inches accommodates standard tap holders and floating tap chucks used in production and job-shop environments. No coolant-through capability is present, so flood or mist cooling from the exterior is the recommended approach for heat management during high-cycle use.
Designed for blind-hole threading of M6 x 1.00 metric threads in aluminum and aluminum alloy workpieces. Compatible with standard tap holders and floating tap chucks accepting a 0.255-inch shank diameter. Thread limit D4 and D5 per Series 3969 specifications.
This tap should be installed and operated by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with tapping operations and applicable shop-safety procedures. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the tap is properly aligned with the pre-drilled hole before engaging the spindle to prevent tap breakage. Power down or de-energize the machine before changing or inspecting the tap. Apply appropriate cutting fluid or mist coolant externally throughout the tapping cycle, as this tool does not feature coolant-through capability.
