The GUHRING 9039640190500 is a spiral flute tap designed for blind hole threading in a wide range of materials. It cuts a 3/4-10 UNC right-hand thread to a 2B class of fit using four right-hand flutes with a 40-degree helix angle. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading closer to the bottom of a blind hole than a standard taper or plug tap permits. Constructed from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a MolyGlide coating, this tap handles demanding applications where tool life and chip evacuation are critical. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die tradespeople are the primary users. Overall length is 4.252 inches, shank diameter is 0.59 inches, and square drive size is 0.442 inches.
This tap is suited for blind hole threading operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials including aluminum and other non-ferrous metals, gray cast iron, malleable and spheroidal iron, and steel. Its fast-flute spiral design evacuates chips up and out of the hole, making it well matched to CNC machining centers and rigid tapping setups where interrupted chip removal is a production requirement. Thread limit designation is H5 and H6, keeping tolerances tight for precision assemblies. Coolant-through capability is not available on this tap.
Designed for blind hole threading applications in aluminum and other non-ferrous metals, gray cast iron, malleable and spheroidal iron, and steel. Part of GUHRING Series 3964.
This tap is installed and operated by machinists or tool-and-die technicians using a compatible tap holder or rigid tapping chuck sized for a 0.59-inch shank diameter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped before loading or removing the tap. Verify correct tapping speed and lubrication for the workpiece material before beginning the threading cycle. Do not exceed the H5/H6 thread limit range by using worn tooling or incorrect tap holders, as oversize threads will result.
