The GUHRING 9039360120000 is a 4-flute straight flute machine tap designed for M12x1.75 metric coarse threading in demanding production environments. Built from cobalt high-speed steel and coated with a dual TiAlN and TiN finish, this tap delivers extended tool life in abrasive and hard-to-cut materials. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading closer to the bottom of blind holes while maintaining thread quality. At 3.381 inches overall length with a 0.367-inch shank diameter, it fits standard tap holders used in CNC machining centers and manual tapping equipment. This is a right-hand tap with a 6HX class of fit and thread limits of D6 and D7.
This tap is suited for blind hole and through-hole threading applications in materials including abrasive composites and cast iron. The straight flute geometry makes it appropriate for through-hole work and shorter blind holes where chip evacuation is managed by the operator or coolant flow. It is commonly deployed in job shop, production machining, and maintenance repair operations where metric coarse threads are specified. The tap does not include coolant-through capability, so external or flood coolant is recommended when threading difficult materials.
Designed for M12x1.75 metric coarse threading applications in abrasive materials and cast iron. Compatible with standard tap holders accepting a 0.367-inch shank diameter and a 0.275-inch square drive size.
This tap should be installed and operated by a machinist or tooling professional familiar with tapping speeds and feeds for cobalt tooling. Ensure the tapping fixture or machine spindle is properly aligned before threading to prevent tap breakage. Use appropriate cutting fluid or flood coolant when threading cast iron or abrasive materials to manage heat and chip load. Always follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when changing or running taps.
