The GUHRING 9039000120000 is a spiral point tap designed for through-hole threading in a wide range of materials. Built from cobalt high-speed steel with a bright finish, this plug-chamfer tap drives chips forward ahead of the cutting zone, making it well suited for through-hole applications where chip evacuation matters. It cuts a metric coarse M12 x 1.75 thread to a 6H class of fit with a thread limit of D5/D6. With an overall length of 3.381 inches and a thread length of 0.866 inches, it fits standard machine tap holders used in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual tapping fixtures. The tool weighs 0.15 pounds and carries a shank diameter of 0.367 inches.
This tap is intended for through-hole threading operations on the shop floor or in the field where a clean metric thread is required. It is rated for use in aluminum, gray cast iron, malleable iron, spheroidal iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. The cobalt construction provides added heat resistance compared to standard HSS tooling, making it a practical choice when cutting harder steel grades or working in high-production environments where tool life is a priority. It is part of the GUHRING Series 3900 spiral point tap family.
Designed for use in standard machine tap holders and collet chucks accepting a 0.367-inch shank diameter. Suitable for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and tapping heads set up for right-hand M12 x 1.75 metric coarse threading operations.
This tap is intended for installation by machinists or tooling technicians familiar with machine tapping operations. Secure the tap in a properly sized tap holder or collet and verify spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material before cutting. Ensure the workpiece is clamped securely and the pilot hole diameter is correct for M12 x 1.75 before engaging the tap. Do not reverse the spindle abruptly without confirming the tapping head or CNC program is set for synchronized or floating-head operation.
