The GUHRING 9038990011500 is a solid carbide micro drill bit designed for precision drilling in ferrous and cast iron workpieces. It carries a TiAlN coating that resists heat and wear during high-speed cutting operations. The bit features a 140-degree faceted point with web thinning for improved centering and reduced thrust at entry. With an overall length of 38 mm and a flute length of 10 mm, it is sized for tight-tolerance work in machining, toolroom, and production environments. A right-hand spiral flute clears chips efficiently in short-cycle drilling applications. The h7 diameter tolerance on the 1.15 mm cutting edge supports consistent hole quality without secondary finishing in many applications.
This micro drill bit is suited for drilling cast iron and steel in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and precision manual setups. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 3 mm in diameter, making it compatible with standard collet chucks and drill chucks used in toolroom and production machining. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 8.28 mm maximum drilling depth fit shallow-hole drilling cycles typical in component manufacturing, fixture work, and precision part production. It is installed and used by machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators working to close tolerances.
Designed for use in drilling cast iron and steel workpieces as noted by primary workpiece material codes K and P. The 3 mm straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks and drill chucks accepting that shank diameter. Part of GUHRING Series 3899 micro drill tooling.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator familiar with micro-diameter tooling. Always confirm spindle runout and collet condition before use, as concentricity errors are amplified at small diameters and can cause premature breakage. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is de-energized before changing or inspecting the bit. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for speed and feed parameters appropriate to the workpiece material and drill diameter.
