The GUHRING 9038040040000 is a solid carbide square end mill built for precision milling in stainless steel, steel, and cast iron. It runs a 0.1575-inch (4.00 mm) cutting diameter with a 0.315-inch (8.00 mm) length of cut and a 0.2362-inch (6.00 mm) straight-cylindrical shank. The four-flute, single-end design uses a spiral flute geometry with a variable helix angle of 36 and 38 degrees, which helps reduce chatter and improve chip evacuation in tough materials. A nano-A coating improves wear resistance and tool life in demanding cutting conditions. This tool is centercutting, allowing it to plunge directly into the workpiece. It is designed for use by machinists and CNC operators working in job shop, production, or maintenance environments.
This end mill is suited for finish and semi-finish milling operations in stainless steel and alloy steel, with secondary capability in cast iron. The extended reach design, with a 15.00 mm reach length and a 3.80 mm neck diameter, allows access to deeper pockets and stepped features without tool interference. The stub length classification keeps deflection low at this small diameter. It fits standard CNC machining centers and manual mills using an ER or similar collet chuck compatible with a 6.00 mm shank. Series 3804 from GUHRING is targeted at high-performance milling in ISO material groups P, M, K, and S.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills with collet or shrink-fit toolholders accepting a 6.00 mm (0.2362-inch) straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel (ISO M) and steel (ISO P). Secondary application is cast iron (ISO K). Part of GUHRING Series 3804.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool change procedure is followed per machine manufacturer guidelines before mounting or removing the tool. Use a calibrated collet or toolholder within the specified shank tolerance (h6) to maintain runout within acceptable limits. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer recommended feeds and speeds for the target workpiece material.
