The GUHRING 9037410130000 is a single-end solid carbide square end mill engineered for precision metal removal in demanding machining environments. Built to Series 3741 specifications, this tool features a 45-degree helix spiral flute geometry and a FIREX finish coating that extends tool life when cutting abrasive ferrous materials. The 0.5118-inch (13 mm) diameter and 0.866-inch length of cut make it well suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation follow standard CNC machining conventions. A straight-cylindrical shank at 0.5118 inches matches the cutter diameter for straightforward collet or end mill holder setup. Machinists and CNC programmers in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments are the primary users.
This end mill is designed for cutting cast iron, stainless steel, and steel, with secondary capability on non-ferrous and superalloy workpiece materials. The centercutting design allows plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral and slot milling. The FIREX coating provides thermal and oxidation resistance, which is particularly beneficial when running higher surface footage in steel or stainless without flood coolant, as this tool does not include coolant-through capability. It fits standard CNC machining centers and manual mills using ER or TG collet systems, shrink-fit holders, or end mill holders accepting a 0.5118-inch straight shank.
Rated for primary use in cast iron, stainless steel, and steel (ISO material codes K, M, P), with secondary suitability for non-ferrous and superalloy materials (ISO codes N, S). Straight-cylindrical 0.5118-inch shank fits any standard end mill holder, collet chuck, or shrink-fit holder of the same bore diameter.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or quill is locked before loading or removing the end mill. Secure the shank to the full recommended grip depth in the holder — insufficient engagement is a common cause of pullout and tool breakage under heavy cuts. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating; excessive runout accelerates wear on solid carbide tools. Because this tool has no coolant-through feature, adequate external flood or mist coolant application is recommended when cutting stainless steel or steel to manage heat at the cutting edge.
