The GUHRING 9037310200000 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining applications. Part of the Series 3731 lineup, it features a 0.787 inch (20 mm) mill diameter, a 1.024 inch length of cut, and four spiral flutes with a variable helix design (35 to 38 degrees) that reduces harmonics and chatter during aggressive cuts. The FIREX coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection, extending tool life in abrasive and hard materials. Single-end construction, right-hand cut, right-hand flute orientation, and a Weldon flat shank make this a reliable choice for milling machine operators and CNC machinists working in production environments.
This end mill is suited for machining cast iron, steel, stainless steel, hard materials, and similar ferrous and high-strength alloys in both roughing and finishing passes. The stub length type and 0.787 inch Weldon flat shank provide rigidity in setups where overhang must be minimized. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, adding setup flexibility. Typical applications include slotting, peripheral milling, and contour work on vertical and horizontal machining centers. The variable helix construction is particularly effective in interrupted cuts and thin-wall workpiece conditions where vibration control is critical.
Designed for use in standard Weldon flat end mill holders and collet chucks accepting a 0.787 inch (20 mm) shank. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron and steel; secondary materials include stainless steel and hard materials per material codes K, P, H, M, and S.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer torque and clamping specifications for Weldon flat holders. Verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits before engaging the cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear on carbide tooling. Ensure the workpiece and fixture are fully secured before initiating a plunge or side-milling operation. Coolant through is not supported on this tool; apply external flood or mist coolant as required by the workpiece material and cut parameters.
