The GUHRING 9037310080000 is a single-end solid carbide square end mill from the Guhring Series 3731, designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. It runs a 0.315 inch (8.00 mm) diameter with a 0.472 inch (12.00 mm) length of cut and features a variable helix angle ranging from 35 to 38 degrees. The FIREX coating provides enhanced thermal resistance and wear protection. Four spiral flutes with right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation make this tool suitable for finishing and semi-finishing passes. Installed by machinists and toolroom technicians, it fits manual mills and CNC machining centers using a Weldon flat shank interface.
This end mill is built for stub-length applications where rigidity and accuracy take priority over reach. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron and steel. Secondary applications cover hard materials, stainless steel, and other alloy categories. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, giving operators flexibility in programming toolpaths. The 0.315 inch Weldon flat shank seats securely in standard side-lock holders, reducing pullout risk during aggressive cuts. Overall length is 58.00 mm (approximately 2.28 inches), and the neck diameter measures 7.70 mm, providing adequate clearance in typical stub-reach setups.
Designed for use in standard Weldon flat side-lock tool holders accepting a 0.315 inch (8.00 mm) shank. Primary material compatibility includes cast iron (K) and steel (P); secondary compatibility includes hard materials (H), stainless steel (M), and high-temperature alloys (S) per Guhring Series 3731 material coding.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Before mounting, verify the spindle and tool holder are clean and free of chips or burrs that could affect runout. Torque the side-lock set screw to the holder manufacturer specification — do not use impact tools on tool holder fasteners. Confirm proper tool projection length and runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut.
