The GUHRING 9036890100000 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. Part of the Series 3689 line, this single-end tool features a 0.394-inch (10 mm) mill diameter, six spiral flutes with a 45-degree helix angle, and a FIREX coating that extends tool life in abrasive and hard-material cutting conditions. The straight cylindrical shank measures 0.394 inches (10 mm) in diameter with an h6 tolerance, while the mill diameter carries an h10 tolerance for consistent, repeatable fitment. Machinists and tooling professionals install this end mill in CNC machining centers and manual mills for finishing and semi-finishing passes.
This end mill is suited for milling ferrous metals, stainless steels, cast irons, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by the primary workpiece material codes K, M, P, and S. It also addresses secondary materials classified under codes H and N, including hard and non-ferrous materials. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, making it practical for slotting, profiling, and pocket milling operations. With a regular-length flute configuration and a 0.866-inch (22 mm) length of cut, it handles moderate depth passes across a variety of part geometries in both production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 0.394-inch (10 mm) straight cylindrical shank. Compatible with standard ER collet chucks, hydraulic tool holders, and shrink-fit holders sized for 10 mm shanks. Suitable for workpiece materials corresponding to ISO material groups K, M, P, S, H, and N as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked before inserting or removing the end mill. Ensure the tool holder bore and shank are clean and free of chips or coolant residue before seating the tool to the recommended insertion depth. Verify runout after installation using an indicator before beginning any cutting operation. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut for the specific workpiece material.
