The GUHRING 9036780130000 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. Built to Series 3678 specifications, it features a 0.5118 inch (13 mm) cutting diameter, a 1.0236 inch (26 mm) length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle with four spiral flutes for efficient chip evacuation. The FIREX coating provides enhanced wear resistance and thermal protection, making this tool well suited for high-feed operations in ferrous and specialty alloy materials. It is a single-end, right-hand cut tool with a straight cylindrical shank and is centercutting capable, allowing plunge entry when the application requires it.
This end mill is engineered for milling cast iron, stainless steel, and steel, covering ISO material codes K, M, and P as primary workpiece categories, with additional suitability for non-ferrous metals and superalloys (codes N and S). It fits standard CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with collet chucks or end mill holders accepting a 0.5118 inch (13 mm) shank. The regular length profile and 83 mm overall length make it practical for general-purpose slotting, profiling, and contouring operations at typical depth-of-cut parameters for solid carbide tooling.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines with collet or end mill holder systems accepting a 0.5118 inch straight shank. Primary workpiece compatibility includes cast iron (K), stainless steel (M), and steel (P); secondary compatibility covers non-ferrous metals and superalloys (N, S).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully into the tool holder and tighten to the holder manufacturer's specified torque procedure using the appropriate wrench. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, and confirm cutting parameters are appropriate for the workpiece material and machine rigidity.
