The GUHRING 9031880158700 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals in demanding machining environments. Built to Series 3188 specifications, this centercutting tool features a 5/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 5/8 inch shank diameter with a 3-1/2 inch overall length. The four-flute geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and surface finish quality. FIREX finish provides enhanced wear resistance and thermal protection, extending tool life in high-speed and dry-cutting applications. Typically installed by machinists and CNC operators in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and plunging operations on a wide range of workpiece materials. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional milling setups. The fine pitch and regular length classification make it appropriate for general-purpose roughing and finishing passes where tool rigidity and consistent flute load are priorities. Centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
Designed as a standard shank replacement-style solid carbide square end mill compatible with ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-flat tool holders accepting a 5/8 inch shank diameter. Verify holder runout tolerance before use in tight-tolerance finishing operations.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the tool holder to the recommended engagement depth and torque set screws or collet nuts per the holder manufacturer specifications. Confirm tool runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cutting pass, and verify feed rate and spindle speed settings match the material and coating recommendations for carbide FIREX tooling.
