The GUHRING 9031810063500 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining environments. With a 0.25 inch cutting diameter, a 1.125 inch length of cut, and a 3 inch overall length, this tool is built for long-reach applications where rigidity and edge retention are critical. Six spiral flutes with a 45-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. A FIREX coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when working ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators specify this end mill for finish and semi-finish milling passes where dimensional accuracy is required.
This end mill is suited for use on CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills in both production and job-shop settings. The long flute length and straight cylindrical shank make it appropriate for cavity milling, slotting, and side milling on harder workpiece materials. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole. Compatible primary workpiece material codes include K, M, P, and S, covering cast iron, stainless steel, steel, and heat-resistant superalloys. Secondary workpiece material codes H and N indicate suitability for hard materials and non-ferrous metals. The Series 3181 designation places this tool within a family engineered specifically for these material groups.
Compatible with workpiece material groups K, M, P, and S per the input specification, covering cast iron, stainless steel, carbon and alloy steels, and heat-resistant superalloys, with secondary suitability for hard materials and non-ferrous metals. Fits standard 0.25 inch collets, ER-series collet chucks, and end mill holders.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is clamped securely in a clean, undamaged collet or end mill holder before beginning setup. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut, as excessive runout will reduce tool life and surface finish quality. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and cutting tool manufacturer recommendations for feed rate, spindle speed, and depth of cut for the target workpiece material.
