The GUHRING 9031790158700 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill head designed for precision finishing operations in demanding machining environments. This single-end tool features 6 flutes in a right-hand spiral configuration with a high helix style, producing smooth surface finishes on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The FIREX PVD coating significantly extends tool life in high-heat, high-wear cutting conditions. With a 5/8 inch diameter and a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, this stub-length head is built for rigidity and reduced deflection. It is installed by machinists on CNC milling centers and manual mills requiring close-pitch, high-performance finishing tools.
This end mill head is suited for finishing passes on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, hard materials, and exotic alloys including superalloys and titanium. The stub length and straight cylindrical shank make it appropriate for applications where tool overhang must be minimized to maintain dimensional accuracy. Its 45-degree chamfer angle at the corner provides a controlled radius transition, reducing chipping at part edges during finishing cuts. It is a Series 3179 tool offered in single-end configuration with no chipbreaker and no coolant-through capability.
Designed for use as a finishing end mill head on CNC milling machines and compatible toolholding systems accepting a 5/8 inch straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium; secondary materials include non-ferrous metals and hard materials.
This tool is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are fully powered down and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill. Verify shank diameter tolerance compatibility with the toolholder bore before clamping. Do not use this tool for centercutting or plunge operations, as it is not designed for that purpose.
