The GUHRING 9031780127000 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding machining environments. Built to Series 3178 specifications, this single-end tool features a 0.5 inch cutting diameter, 6 spiral flutes, and a 45-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. The right-hand cut, right-hand flute geometry combined with a centercutting design allows for plunge, slot, and peripheral milling operations. With a bright uncoated finish and h10 mill diameter tolerance, it is suited for applications requiring tight dimensional accuracy in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines across job shops, aerospace, and general metalworking environments. The 0.5 inch straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders. Workpiece material codes K, M, P, and S indicate suitability for cast iron, stainless steel, steel, and superalloys. Secondary material codes H and N extend compatibility to hard materials and non-ferrous metals. Typical applications include profiling, contouring, slotting, and face milling in production and prototype work.
Compatible with workpiece material codes K, M, P, and S covering cast iron, stainless steel, carbon and alloy steel, and superalloys, with secondary compatibility for hard materials and non-ferrous metals as indicated by material codes H and N. Fits standard 0.5 inch bore collet chucks and end mill holders.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine powered down. Verify collet bore size and holder runout before seating the shank to maintain tolerance integrity. Follow shop safety procedures and machine manufacturer guidelines when setting tool length offsets and spindle speeds. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended cutting parameters for the selected workpiece material.
