The GUHRING 9031770079400 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. Built on GUHRING Series 3177, it features a 0.3125 inch cutting diameter, a 0.4375 inch length of cut, and a 3-inch overall length, placing it in the long-series category. The 45-degree helix spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. With three flutes and a right-hand cut, right-hand flute configuration, this end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Licensed machinists and CNC tool-and-die professionals are the typical end users.
This end mill is well matched to general-purpose milling on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where a long-reach 5/16 inch tool is required. The straight-cylindrical shank at 0.3125 inch diameter fits standard ER and side-lock collet systems. The bright, uncoated finish and proprietary carbide grade align with primary workpiece material code N, covering non-ferrous metals, aluminum alloys, and plastics. The center-cutting capability allows plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral passes. The 1.5 inch reach length provides additional clearance for deep-pocket and stepped-feature work.
Designed as a standard straight-shank replacement or new-installation solid carbide square end mill for CNC and manual milling machines accepting a 0.3125 inch cylindrical shank. No specific machine model compatibility was provided in the product data.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the retention device to the equipment manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout will shorten tool life and degrade surface finish.
