The GUHRING 9031670127000 is a solid carbide ball end mill engineered for precision contouring, profiling, and 3D surface milling in demanding machining environments. Built on the Series 3167 platform with an ultra fine grain carbide substrate, this tool delivers consistent edge integrity and wear resistance across extended production runs. The 0.5 inch cutting diameter and 2 inch length of cut provide reach for deep-cavity work, while the FIREX coating reduces friction and thermal buildup at the cutting zone. A 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and stable cutting action. This end mill is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, tool rooms, and production facilities.
This tool is suited for milling cast iron, steel alloys, non-ferrous metals, and certain high-temperature alloys. The primary workpiece material codes cover K (cast iron), M (stainless steel), N (non-ferrous), and P (steel), with secondary capability in S (heat-resistant superalloys). The long-series overall length of 4.5 inches makes it a fit for applications requiring extended reach beyond a standard-length end mill, such as deep pockets or contoured die and mold surfaces.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or production cutting tool for CNC machining centers and manual mills using standard 1/2 inch diameter toolholders including collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and end mill holders compatible with a 1/2 inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool path program verified before changing tooling. The 1/2 inch shank should be seated to the minimum insertion depth specified by the toolholder manufacturer, and runout should be checked at the cutting tip before production. Avoid side-loading the ball nose tip during plunge entry; use ramping or helical interpolation entry strategies to protect edge integrity.
