The GUHRING 9031530079400 is a single-end, solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in demanding machining environments. Part of the Guhring Series 3153, it features a 5/16 inch cutting diameter, a 13/16 inch length of cut (0.8125 inches), and a 2-1/2 inch overall length. The 30-degree spiral flute geometry and FIREX finish work together to reduce heat buildup and extend tool life during high-speed cutting operations. With four flutes and a center-cutting design, this mill handles both plunge and profile operations across a range of workpiece materials. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production environments rely on this geometry for its consistent performance.
This end mill is suited for milling cast iron, stainless steel, and steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, and K. Secondary applications include non-ferrous metals and superalloys. The straight cylindrical shank with 5/16 inch diameter fits standard ER and straight-bore tool holders. It is appropriate for use in vertical machining centers, CNC knee mills, and manual mills where a right-hand cut, right-hand flute configuration is required. The regular length type keeps it versatile for general-purpose slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling without extended reach.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore and ER collet tool holders accepting a 5/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron (K), stainless steel (M), and steel (P), with secondary compatibility for non-ferrous metals (N) and superalloys (S).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Ensure the shank is fully seated and clean in the tool holder before tightening to the holder manufacturer's specified clamping method. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation, as excessive runout will accelerate wear and degrade surface finish on solid carbide tooling.
