The GUHRING 9031530071400 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. Built to Series 3153 specifications, it features a 0.2813 inch cutting diameter, a 0.75 inch length of cut, and a 2.5 inch overall length with a 0.3125 inch straight cylindrical shank. The tool carries a FIREX coating for improved wear resistance and heat tolerance at the cutting edge. With four flutes, a 30-degree right-hand spiral helix, and center-cutting geometry, it is suited for slotting, profiling, and plunging operations in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this end mill.
This end mill is designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where close-tolerance cutting is required. It is appropriate for applications in ferrous metals including steel (P-grade), stainless steel (M-grade), and cast iron (K-grade), as well as secondary applications in non-ferrous and superalloy materials (N and S grades). The regular-length flute configuration suits general-purpose side milling, pocket milling, and shoulder milling at conventional to high-efficiency feed rates. It is a single-end tool with no chipbreaker, variable index, or variable helix features.
Rated for primary use in cast iron (K), stainless steel (M), and steel (P) workpiece materials, with secondary compatibility in non-ferrous (N) and superalloy (S) materials. Fits standard 5/16 inch collets and end mill holders accepting a straight cylindrical shank.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable shop safety procedures. Ensure the collet or tool holder bore is clean and free of chips before seating the shank to maintain runout within tolerance. Verify shank engagement depth meets the tool holder manufacturer minimum before tightening. Cutting parameters including speed, feed, and depth of cut should be set per the material grade and machine rigidity — do not exceed the tool geometry limits for plunge angle without confirming center-cutting capability is enabled.
